A phlebotomy technician draws blood and prepares it for testing. Since many people fear needles and the sight of blood, the phlebotomy technician instills trust and comfort in patients by creating a safe, professional, and compassionate environment. Constantly evolving technology has created a constantly growing demand for medical lab tests, and phlebotomy technicians are benefiting from this. The median income for phlebotomy technicians in 2015-2016 was $33,000 (entry-level starts at $22,000 and highly experienced technicians earn $45,000).
